Get images of country club cords out of your head, stars like Elsa Hosk & Bella Hadid are showing us the new way to do cords...
Who remembers a couple of years ago when corduroy kind of, very nearly, sort of did, make a return? The ridged velvety fabric leant itself naturally to the Seventies revival, the onslaught of which came from the spring summer 2015 shows. The comeback was subtle and tentative: those button-up Urban Outfitters skirts that everyone wore were about as far as it went. Well for 2017, corduroy is back again (again) but this time, we're doing it properly...
The opening looks at both Marc Jacobs and Prada's autumn winter shows set the corduroy agenda. At Marc, coats with chunky ridges came down the runway, while at Prada it was all about the cord trousers.

Just this weekend, Bella Hadid put her streetwear stamp on corduroy wearing bright blue cord trousers and a matching varsity jacket by Off-White, while model Elsa Hosk posed in Stockholm wearing a pink corduroy and shearling jacket as part of her autumn collection with Scandi brand Bik Bok.
So there it is: digging out your old cords will be the most fashion forward thing you can do this autumn/winter. If you're worried about your look veering into stuffy, pair your cord trousers with a simple white tee and a small heel, or match a cord mini skirt with some killer heeled boots.
