Want to Be More Stylish? Stop Wearing These Colors

Given that we're finally at the tail end of winter, you're probably ready to add some color into your life (we know we are). While fall and winter are typically defined by dark hues and neutrals, spring and summer are all about fresh, vibrant color. But as you know, colors go in and out of style, perhaps even more frequently than other types of trends.

Since wearing colors that are a bit passé can ultimately put a damper on your otherwise of-the-moment look, we opted to consult an expert on the subject of what colors to stop wearing to be more stylish. Melissa Moylan, creative director of womenswear at trend forecasting company Fashion Snoops (in other words, the guru on all things trend-related), was quick to fill us in on three colors that it's time to ditch—at least for now—if you want to be more stylish. (Of course, if you're totally into these hues, by all means, continue to wear them.) Intrigued?

Shades of mint or seafoam once dominated pastel colors. Right now, blues are much more popular. Traditional shirting blues offer a soft and approachable color anyone could wear.

Coral and persimmon downtrend in favor of their independent color origins. On the orange side, a bright Bengal shade stands out, and on the pink spectrum, bubblegum and hot pink are key.

Chartreuse falls out of favor, with yellow hues taking over. Primary bright yellow makes a statement while spicy mustard is another favorite. For an added jolt, we're also seeing an eccentric neon make a comeback.
